Dr. Paul Shapiro

There is a simple reason for (normally) a 1 year wait to receive a transplant at Shapiro Medical Group: it is simply the best. Before my recent procedure on 6/29/2026, I was fortunate enough to have Dr. Ron Shapiro perform my previous procedure back in 1998. The two surgeons at SMG, Dr. Shapiro and Dr. Josephitis, are world reknown for their expertise and results that are truly undetectable. As time passed, it became apparent that I needed additional work due to agiing & its effect on hair. SMG was the ONLY place that I would consider due to truly indiscernible results. I live in Chicago with reputable clinics, but I would have traveled anywhere to have my procedure at SMG. The pre-screening and consulation are performed by Matt Zupan, who is beyond accommodating, educational, and informative. Matt also does the scheduling once realistic expectations are discussed. As previously mentioned, the extraordinary demand for the services at SMG results in (approx.) a 1 year wait period. Unlike other clinics, SMG does 1 procedure a day, which is testimony to their laser-focused approach to every patient. I traveled to SMG in May for an in-person evaluation by Matt & Dr. Josephitis, (who was to perform my procedure), to ensure my expectations could be met. Fast forward to the FUE procedure. The day was actually enjoyable, and I experienced no pain and needed no post-op medication. Dr. Josephitis, like Dr. Shapiro, is truly a master at his craft. His attention to detail can actually be sensed during the procedure. He doesn’t dictate what he wants to do; he asks what you want & works within those parameters, which are confirmed both pre-op and toward the end of the procedure. For a world-class clinic, everyone is SO humble, kind, & accommodating. I mentioned the surgeons and Matt, but the other staff members, from those at the front desk to the surgical assistants go above and beyond.as well. The teamwork, atmosphere, and the results achieved at SMG are beyond compare. There is a reason that people from all over the world travel to SMG for both primary and corrective procedures. If you had the patience to read this review, hopefully you also have the patience to wait for the procedure at SMG!

I have been to Shapiro Medical twice. 14 years apart. The experience both times was first class. Both Docs and staff are pro, noted by the fact that they are still there. Matt is the man. After a lot of research and two successful visits I could not imagine going anywhere else.

went here about 20 years ago; worst mistake of my life. very uneven hairline and awful strip scar with a big bump where stitches were tied off. been wearing hats ever since. best of luck to everyone else.

There’s a reason why they’re recognized worldwide- top notch hair surgeons, expertly trained assisting staff and they use cutting edge equipment and techniques. They are also very ethical with their approach and will not over sell you with anything not in your best interest. I also highly appreciate how kind everyone is. This is where a lot of celebrities go as well. It’s well worth the wait, don’t waste your time going anywhere else- I’ve done plenty of consults before choosing Shapiro!!

Matt Zupan is wonderful to work with!!! I got my procedure 7 years ago and it has been the best decision ever! These guys are the best in the business!
