Five years ago, I met Kristel, who at the time worked at a different institute. My hair had fallen out almost halfway down my head. Kristel told me I had an autoimmune disease, in which my own immune system attacks and eventually destroys the hair roots. This was the reason for my hair loss. A hair transplant was pointless if the disease wasn't addressed. After two years of applying cortisone cream, the inflammation was gone, but unfortunately, the cream had caused an extremely thin scalp. I went back to Kristel, this time to her own clinic. She was very friendly and genuinely happy that the disease had stopped. However, because of my "parchment skin," it would be a major challenge, and she decided to transplant no more than 800 hairs. She succeeded, but with great difficulty, and the skin reacted severely... with numerous bruises. And this was precisely what Kristel had pointed out... the skin can react extremely severely. Anyway, the skin healed, and a year later, I had long hair. And now I'm having lunch during my second transplant, another 800 hairs... and thankfully, my thin skin is responding much better now! I'm glad she was so careful back then; more hairs might have been rejected, and who knows, maybe they couldn't be transplanted because of the bruising. And yes, now I have to pay twice... but they're staying put.
I can only say that she's a very skilled doctor and very friendly. Her staff is the same: skilled and also very friendly.
I had a wonderful experience at the Hair & Skin Institute. Kristel and her team gave me personalized advice and really took the time to listen to me. I immediately felt comfortable during the initial consultation, so I came all the way from New York to have the treatment with Kristel. You can tell they have a lot of experience and work with care. I felt well-guided throughout the day. Highly recommended!
Thirteen years ago, we went to Kristel van Herwijnen for a hair transplant. She was very honest at the time and told us to plan for one or two more hair transplants to achieve the desired effect. Yesterday, my husband had his second hair transplant, and once again, we are very pleased with how everything went! From the intake, the advice, the transplant itself, the team that helped, and the delicious lunch. It was a long day for everyone, but every question we had was answered comprehensively. Upon leaving, we received a helpful schedule that clearly explained everything. My husband experienced few side effects last time, and he didn't have any yesterday either. It was a wonderful experience, and we're already happy with the results—let alone in a few months!
The initial meeting felt immediately comfortable and familiar. They immediately discussed the options available and what would be best for you in the long term. Kristel van Herwijnen is a highly skilled doctor with extensive knowledge and experience in her field. The other women are also very friendly and do everything they can to make the treatments as pleasant as possible, with great care and attention.
