Dr. Valerie D. Callender, a Board-Certified Dermatologist, is renowned for her compassionate and innovative approach to addressing hair loss in women and treating pigmentation disorders. With a distinguished career, Dr. Callender has held prominent positions in various dermatological organizations, including the Women’s Dermatologic Society and the Skin of Color Society, where she served as Past President for both. Additionally, she has contributed to the American Academy of Dermatology, serving on its Board of Directors and Executive Committee. Currently, Dr. Callender holds the position of President at the American Dermatological Association, the oldest Dermatologic Society in the United States.

As the Founder and Medical Director of the Callender Dermatology & Cosmetic Center, along with being the Founder and Principal Investigator for the Callender Center for Clinical Research in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, Dr. Callender continues to push boundaries in her field. She earned her medical degree from Howard University and completed her residency there, where she now serves as a Professor of Dermatology at the College of Medicine. Dr. Callender’s contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Women’s Dermatologic President’s Award, Mentor of the Year Award, and the Dermatology Foundation’s Clark W. Finnerud Award, an honor bestowed upon individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication as part-time educators and clinicians.
