Dr. Sanusi Umar, known as Dr. U, is the founder of DermHair Clinic and a pioneer in hair transplant surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and previously by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in cosmetic surgery under the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. U’s residency training in dermatology took place in Los Angeles, where he now serves as a clinical faculty member at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). A native of Nigeria, Dr. U obtained his medical degree from UniMaid College of Medical Sciences. His initial residency in Internal Medicine was at the Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow, New York, where his work in infectious disease garnered significant recognition, including a first-place award from the Long Island Infectious Diseases fellows’ competition and invitations to present and chair sessions at International AIDS conferences in Geneva and Durban.
Driven by his advanced training, passion for research, and interest in natural hair restoration processes, Dr. U embarked on a quest to revolutionize hair transplant surgery. After personally experiencing the devastating consequences of a botched hair transplant, he dedicated himself to finding better solutions for others. He began by comparing various hair restoration procedures in the United States and abroad, identifying the shortcomings and flaws of traditional methods. This led him to develop a new, minimally invasive FUE hair transplant procedure, which has since set new standards in the field. Widely published and recognized for his innovative work, Dr. U continues to lead the industry with his expertise and commitment to improving patient outcomes through advanced hair restoration techniques.

a month agoI have nothing negative to say about Dr. Umar. He has been treating my son since 2 years ago, and his condition is remarkable improving. I definitely recommend Dr. Umar.

6 months agoThis clinic is unbelievably unprofessional. Dr. U is always late and constantly cancels or reschedules appointments. Apparently, he goes on a business trip every month for a week, and every time, he cancels everyone’s appointments during that period. It’s happened to me four months in a row. If you value your time or reliability in a doctor, look elsewhere.

a year agoI went to Dr.U for akn surgery back in May of 2024. I feel the surgery itself went well, but also I feel my results could have turned out a lot better as my scar is a lot wider than I expected. The directions given after care weren't explained well. My first vitual followup with the doc he seemed very uninterested in my problems and you could tell he didnt want to even be bothered with the follow up. My last virtual follow up was canceled as he wasn't in office I was told, so they pushed it back months later to this past January and I never received a call. The communication here is terrible in my opinion. And if your considering akn surgery here be sure the nurses and the doc are giving consistent information on your wound care and healing because it wasnt consistent with me at all. A nurse told me right after surgery to start taking these supplement pills for wound healing and hair growth and the doc told me at my first virual that I shouldnt have started taking them he stated "who told you to start taking those"🥴... I do feel like my results would have been a lot better if they communicated better and if the doctor actually acted like he cared post surgery.
