Award-Winning & Leading Pioneers of Hair TransplantationJohn Peter Cole, MD specializes in numerous hair restoration techniques. Most prominently, this includes Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE), Body Hair Transplant, Plug Redistribution, Plug Removal, Scar Revision, Facial Hair and Eyebrow Restoration, and Body Hair Farming.Dr. John P. Cole attended the Mercer University on an academic scholarship from the United States Army and graduated Summa Cum Laude with degrees in Chemistry and Biology back in 1981. He then received his medical degree in 1985 from the Medical College of Georgia. His postgraduate degree in internal medicine came from the University of Missouri. Dr. Cole has dedicated himself to hair transplant surgery since 1990. His memberships include the American Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ASHRS), American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), and International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS).
In 1990 Dr. Cole became a pioneer in total follicular unit hair transplantation and microscopic dissection, focusing on transforming hair restoration surgery from cosmetically unacceptable results into aesthetically pleasing results. In 1998 Dr. Cole became one of the first diplomats of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS) and later served on both the examination committee and board of directors of the ABHRS. Dr. Cole led the Newcomer program of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRR) in 2000 and 2001. In 2002 Dr. Cole chaired the 10th annual meeting of the ISHRS in Chicago, IL. Collectively, Dr. Cole has chaired 13 major international conferences, and Dr. Cole has also been a scientific director for more conferences devoted to FUE than any other physician.
Dr. Cole received his first patent for innovative surgical instruments in 1998 and has acquired six additional patents from the USPTO since then, along with numerous patents-pending devices. In 2003 Dr. Cole pioneered the successful methods of performing follicular unit extraction or FUE hair restoration and began developing the instruments necessary to perform FUE. Dr. Cole also began teaching FUE to other physicians in 2003 and continues to train physicians how to perform FUE. Today FUE is the most popular hair restoration surgery procedure globally, and FUE still depends on the basic principles and mechanisms described by Dr. Cole in 2003. In 2003 Dr. Cole opened the first FUE clinic in Europe and, in 2007, the first FUE clinic in Asia. In 2005 Dr. Cole developed the first complex motion profile device, including oscillation, for FUE. Dr. Cole filed patents on all significant alterations in punch designs for FUE in 2006. Manufacturers continue to copy these designs. In 2013 Dr. Cole became the 20th recipient of the Gold Follicle from the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery. In 2014 Dr. Cole opened an FUE training center with Dr. Ozgur Oztan in Ankara, Turkey. Dr. Cole entered the field of regenerative medicine in 2007. In 2015 Dr. Cole developed a means to lyse platelets to achieve five times the concentration of high molecular weight proteins compared to standard activated PRP with calcium gluconate or thrombin. In 2016 Dr. Cole brought topical finasteride to the United States after success in the clinic he helped establish in Rome, Italy. Dr. Cole is a strong advocate for adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells to treat hair loss.
Dr. Cole remains one of the strongest proponents of FUE and a leader in regenerative medicine for hair loss. Dr. Cole is currently editing the first textbook related to regenerative medicine for hair loss. In addition, he serves as vice president for the Academy of Regenerative Medicine and Surgery Society (AIRMES). He has authored numerous papers and chapters related to regenerative medicine and hair restoration surgery. Dr. Cole currently practices hair transplant in Atlanta, GA, and New York, NY.

3 months agoAfter researching hair transplants for over a year, I truly believe Dr. Cole is the best in the field of FUE. I researched extensively both within my state and nationwide, and now at the 6 month mark after having FUE done by him my belief has only been reinforced. Before the procedure, they carefully measure the entire donor area to determine the true number of viable grafts. This level of precision and technology is something I have not seen offered anywhere else. Dr. Cole has developed the science and tools to accurately inspect and calculate donor capacity, ensuring patients are not over-harvested and that grafts are preserved for the future. He prioritizes long-term outcomes over short-term gain. Dr. Cole also designed a hairline that is artistic, natural, and meant to last a lifetime—rather than choosing an aggressive approach simply to extract more grafts/ more profit. The focus is always on what will look natural as you age. Here are several advantages Dr. Cole offers that very few other doctors do: • Hands-on expertise: Dr. Cole personally performs both the extractions and the incisions for implantation. Most doctors only handle the incisions and delegate the extractions. This level of involvement leads to superior results. • Precision extraction tools: The punch tools used are sized specifically for single versus double grafts, minimizing skin trauma. This results in less visible scarring and preserves natural density—even if you choose to shave your head in the future. • CRP therapy: I opted for CRP (derived from my own blood), which provides superior nutrition to transplanted hair compared to standard PRP. At just six months (photos attached), my results already feel exceptional. Very few doctors invest in this technology because of its cost, yet it significantly accelerates healing, growth, and survival. Importantly, it was never pushed on me—I brought it up after my own research on what they do. • Natural hairline design: Dr. Cole places single grafts at the front of the hairline, which is critical for a natural appearance. This attention to detail makes a noticeable difference. • Advanced donor healing: Instead of injecting ACell into the donor area, they precisely apply it across the scalp to fill the extraction sites. This method promotes up to 30% donor regrowth—something I have not seen offered elsewhere. • Fair and transparent pricing: Dr. Cole charges per graft rather than a flat rate, which is far more sensible. More importantly, he never over-harvests simply to increase cost. Beyond the technical expertise, the environment was exceptional. Dr. Cole and his technicians operate like a close-knit family. The procedure itself was painless, and the atmosphere was relaxed and positive (actually a fun day, funny enough) while still maintaining the highest scientific and hygienic standards. Every graft is treated with care—minimizing time outside the body, wearing masks and gloves, and prioritizing graft survival. The actual procedure and the day after never felt like a big deal or traumatic to me at all. It was so easy and comfortable. His staff is just as knowledgeable and experienced as he is. They have been doing this work for years and care deeply about the results. No corners are ever cut. Overall, Dr. Cole balances artistry, science, technology, and patient care at the highest level. I feel confident that I made the right investment for a lifelong result. I have complete peace of mind knowing I was not over-harvested and that future options remain available if ever needed. I don’t have a single issue or critique to offer. By the day after the procedure, I was completely pain-free and experienced no lingering scalp numbness. FUE is an investment in yourself, one you should be able to appreciate for the rest of your life, and that has certainly been my experience. I also feel confident that my money went to a practice that genuinely cares and to a great group of people. I would recommend Dr. Cole without hesitation.

3 months agoDr Cole is superior to others in this field. I went to one doctor in Boca Fl. year ago. He used the robot which transplanted the hair but the donor area thinned out significantly. Dr Cole's technique saves a good portion of donor hair. I did 3,000 grafts and most of my donor hair grew back. My hair looked great! I was so please with his work I decided to return to fill in top side of my head. I will look like Fabio this summer. I have posted before and after the 3k graft session. I will follow up this summer with photos from the last session. Over all my hair looks amazing!

4 months agoI had my hair transplant with Dr. Cole at ForHair Clinic about 3 years ago, and I can honestly say the results have been fantastic. He restored my hairline perfectly, and even years later it still looks natural, dense, and blends seamlessly with my native hair. The entire experience—from the consultation to the procedure and follow-up—was smooth and professional. Three years later, I’m still extremely happy with my outcome. If you’re thinking about getting a hair transplant, I highly recommend Dr. Cole and the team at ForHair Clinic

10 months agoI read an article that claimed Dr John Cole is arguably one of the best hair transplant and hair treatment doctors in the world, and I am here to highlight that the article is clearly fake. For anyone looking into Dr Cole I am writing to highlight that there is simply no argument to be had at all. The guy lives, sleeps, and breathes hair treatment. He is second to nobody and as well as being a truly gifted hair specialist, him and his team are the most welcoming, friendly and capable group you could ever entrust your treatment to. I am only a few days out from undergoing treatment with Dr Cole and will do a follow up review (with pictures) in the future, however I did a lot of research ahead of seeking treatment and understand how confusing the hair transplant landscape can be when you are making a decision on treatment options. With this in mind I hope that this review helps you cut through all the brochureware and garbage you see on the thousands of websites you visit. Save yourself the pain, uncertainty, and confusion and cut through the rubbish - just call Dr Cole at Forhair and skip straight to the best in the business.
