Yael Halaas, MD, FACS, is recognized as one of the best facial plastic surgeons in New York City. Fully bilingual in English and Spanish and conversational in Hebrew, Dr. Halaas has a special interest in the treatment of the aging face in both women and men. Her advanced education and continued training make her an expert in the complex areas of primary and reparative rhinoplasty, and the medical and surgical treatment of hair loss.

Dr. Halaas is double board-certified in the most selective field by the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Her dedication to continued education, training, and top of the line patient care has earned her the highest recognition offered to surgeons practicing in the United States- Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

Dr. Halaas is specialized in faceliftsrhinoplasty (nose job surgery), blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), and in the evaluation and treatment of hair loss in women and men, and the near- incisionless follicular unit extraction (FUE) procedure, which essentially avoids donor site scarring. Often featured in the media, she is frequently quoted for her various areas of expertise; Dr. Halaas regularly performs all areas of facial plastic surgery in her nationally accredited facility, for which she herself became an OR inspector nationally, and brings a particular level of compassion and caring to the office. Her specialized technique for Asian eyelid surgery has been recognized by Digital Journal and her innovative chemical peel process designed to remove wrinkles is published by medical journals.

Dr. Halaas regularly serves on the advisory board and as luminary or key opinion leader for many of the leading companies in the aesthetics industry due to her advanced knowledge of cutting edge developments from both a scientific and clinical perspective.

Her office regularly participates in clinical trials to further expand knowledge in the field. Dr. Halaas been fortunate to work with Allergan, Galderma, Thermi, Neograft, Smartgraft, Venus, Inmode, BTL, Gentlemax Pro by Candela, Alma and others to fully understand how responsible, caring physicians can use science to safely and effectively improve patients’ well being.

Education & Training

A leading female facial plastic surgeon in a male-dominated industry, Dr. Halaas received her undergraduate degree in Art History from Columbia College in New York and graduated in the top ten percent of her medical school class at Cornell University Medical College, with prestigious distinction of membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. She also earned the American Medical Women’s Association award as part of her membership in the top 5% of her graduating class. The daughter of Cuban and Argentine parents, Dr. Halaas uses her multi-cultural background and her liberal arts education to welcome her international clientele of patients into her world-class office.

Dr. Halaas spent her general surgery internship and otolaryngology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York where she is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology, and was awarded a fellowship through the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Yael Halaas frequently enjoys teaching seminars and lectures for both residents at Einstein and other surgeons regarding injectable fillers, rhinoplasty and new technologies to improve facial rejuvenation with or without surgery.

Philanthropy

Dr. Halaas is the New York City Director of The R.O.S.E. Fund, a national non-profit organization dedicated to recognizing, assisting and empowering women who have broken the cycle of domestic violence. She is also an active member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the world’s largest specialty association that represents over 2,800 of the world’s most influential facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons. She is a board member of Reconstructing Hope providing cosmetic and reconstructive medical care to victims of domestic violence.

Personal Endeavors

Outside of the office, Dr. Halaas is a dedicated mother, daughter, wife and avid gardener. She enjoys tennis, yoga, and skiing. In 2013, she and her husband were awarded a Congressional Recognition for Community Service in their local community. Dr. Halaas enjoys sharing her wealth of plastic surgery knowledge with peers, nationally and internationally. She regularly speaks at conferences throughout the United States on rhinoplasty, hair transplants, and emerging technologies. Internationally, she has traveled to lecture to Paris, Mexico, Spain and this fall in South Africa.
